Korea's First Liquid Nitrogen Generator Was Successfully Developed

2024-09-02

South Korean company CryoH&I announced that it has completed the independent development of a liquid nitrogen generator (LN2 generator) for convenient production of liquid nitrogen, and will launch the CLN series as the company's first product to the market.

This liquid nitrogen generator is a product that combines high-purity nitrogen separation and purification technology from ordinary air with cryogenic gas liquefaction technology, and can easily and safely produce the required liquid nitrogen at industrial and research sites.

This cryogenic cooling technology has a very high degree of technical integration, which only a few advanced overseas companies have. CryoH&I is the only company in Korea that has mastered this technology. CryoH&I has developed Korea's first liquid ammonia generator using cryogenic cooling technology accumulated over 20 years.

Liquid nitrogen is mainly used in hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology industries for the detection or storage of microorganisms, cord blood, cells, and vaccines. It is also widely used in food processing, recycling, and the ultra-convenience of cryogenic cooling. This liquid nitrogen is mainly delivered from large-scale producers in the form of pressure vessels and used at the point of demand. However, with the launch of this small and medium-sized liquid nitrogen generator, liquid nitrogen can now be directly produced and used immediately on site at any time and anywhere at the touch of a button. There is no need to purchase liquid nitrogen, and there is no need to wait for the cumbersome process of receipt and on-site installation, which can further improve convenience, efficiency, and safety.

Dongjin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Equipment Business Division at CryoH&I, who is in charge of the project, said, "This liquid nitrogen generator product is the result of CryoH&I's long-term efforts to lead the cryogenic technology industry. Based on the technological achievements of this small- and medium-sized product, CryoH&I plans to further expand its product portfolio in the future to include medium- and large-sized liquid nitrogen generators. In addition, through continuous R&D, we plan to do our best to become a cryogenic module and equipment company recognized not only in Korea but also in the global market."

Founded in September 2020, CryoH&l Co., Ltd. manufactures and supplies cryogenic vacuum pumps mainly for the semiconductor and display fields. Recently, the company opened a cryogenic research center near Dongdam, Gyeonggi Province to accelerate the development of cryogenic refrigerators and application technologies for liquid hydrogen (LH2), MRI, and quantum computers.
