Description
Sulfuryl fluoride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula SO2F2. At room temperature and pressure, it is a colorless, odorless and toxic gas. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, benzene, carbon tetrachloride. Chemically inert, does not decompose at high temperatures, is still stable at 400°C, and is not very reactive. It is slowly hydrolyzed in caustic aqueous solution, and acts rapidly in potassium hydroxide ethanol solution to obtain sulfuric acid and potassium fluoride. Ammonia hydrolysis to obtain thioamide.
